The Sirens

Voices promising all knowledge

Sweet-voiced and knowing; promise everything, and keep a meadow of bones.

Their song offers to tell a man everything that has ever happened on earth, and the meadow below them is heaped with the bones of listeners. Odysseus plugs his crew's ears with wax and has himself lashed to the mast so he can hear it and live.
