Nausicaä’s Farewell

Nausicaä reminds Odysseus, who vows honor

Who is here

The text

53“Stranger, farewell, and in your native land
Remember you have owed your life to me.”

54Odysseus, the sagacious, answering said: —
“Nausicaa, daughter of the large-souled king
Alcinous! so may Zeus, the Thunderer,
Husband of Hera, grant that I behold
My home, returning safe, as I will make
To you as to a goddess day by day
My prayer; for, lady, you have saved my life.”
